Travel facts Lisbon

25 de Abril Bridge
Because of its structure and colour the 25 de Abril Bridge is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The building process was completed in 1966 and nowadays about 380.000 people cross the bridge every day.

Cristo Rei Statue
Inspired by the the Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Cristo Rei Statue (Christ the King statue) was inaugurated in 1959. The statue was built to show gratitude for being spared during World War II and is overlooking the city of Lisbon. 

Palacio Nacional de Pena
Built in the 19th century this beautiful Palace is built in a way that it is visible from every place in the surrounding park. As a result, the Palacce provides visitors with stunning views over Lisbon. 

Rossio Square
Once the setting of revolts, executions and bull fights, the square today is a popular meeting place in Lisbon. 

The Complex of Belem
The Monastery of the Hieronymites and the Tower of Belém together form the complex of Belem. The UNESCO World Heritage site is situated at the entrance of the port of Lisbon and an outstanding example of beautiful Portuguese architecture.
